Need to know more?

Is the Academy right for me?

The Academy is right for you if need a system give you structure.

If you have never taken the test before, the course is the best thing you can do to get 100% ready to take it. If you have taken the test before, I am confident you will learn how to improve your score.

There is only one level of IELTS and everyone has to do the same exam.

Please see the reviews on Google My Business and Facebook to see how much my students love the programme.

How long will it take me to get through the materials?

There are about 180 lessons, plus a variety of Practice Tests for each part of the Course (plus full Practice Tests).

I add new materials to the Academy every week and I also add ‘Quick Win’ videos in response to special requests from Academy Members.

Just do one thing a day. This will be enough practice to prepare you for the exam.

You can watch the videos as many times as you like, and do the exercises/worksheets over and over again until you feel confident that you’re getting the language, grammar and vocabulary right.

Will I be able to understand everything?

YES. I am used to working with students from all over the world, and the language that I use is clear and simple.

If you have watched my videos on YouTube, or listened to my podcasts, you will know what I sound like! I also use Powerpoints in every video so that you can see and read exactly what I am talking about.

The worksheets are designed to mirror what we do in the videos, so there is nothing new or confusing when you do the practice exercises.

All of the worksheets also have detailed answers included and you can print them off and keep them as a reference.

Do I need to have internet access?

The course is fully online so can access it on your computer, phone or tablet.

You can download and print off all of the worksheets, mindmaps, feedback PDFs, model answers and ebooks to keep forever.

You will need internet access to watch the videos, as they are not downloadable at the moment.

Can I download the videos?

No but you can download and keep all the worksheets and Writing Models.

You will have access to the videos as long as you are a Member in the Academy.

How long will I have access to the content?

In the full Members Academy, you will be able to access the videos, Facebook group and live lessons for as long as your membership is active.

Download and keep the PDF materials forever.

The videos are not downloadable, but the content of the videos is in the PDFs.

What if I'm not very technical?

I have made everything as easy as possible. You can access all the videos and materials on a computer, tablet or phone, just by putting in your email address and password.

Do you offer a Money Back Guarantee?

YES. You can try out the Academy for 48 hours and if you decide it is not right for you, I will give you a FULL refund.

Please note that you can get the FULL library of e-books and resources after you have decided to commit to the course.

Please also note that it can take up to 15 days for the refund to appear in your bank account. But don’t panic – you will receive a full refund.

What if I don't have a credit card?

I recommend that you sign up to PayPal, which is a safe way of paying online.

Why is your Academy different?

I’ve put my 30 years of experience teaching, examining and working with IELTS students into the Academy that I truly believe will help you improve your score if you make full use of all the materials and the feedback sessions.

I’ve also chosen the best materials and done everything I can to make the lessons clear, logical and engaging.

Most importantly, I am very active in the Academy. I know all my members on an individual basis. You will not be left alone to struggle with the materials. I am always here to help.

Will you mark and check my work in the Academy?

The Academy courses have answers and you can check everything by yourself.

I will mark your Writing (it is then double-marked by an IELTS examiner) and assess your Speaking every week, and I will answer your questions in the Facebook group, Whatsapp group and live lessons.

Is Writing Feedback included?

Writing Feedback is a CORE BENEFIT of the Members Academy.

We do a weekly live lesson during which I give people feedback on their writing.

You submit a piece of writing each week for me to correct.

Not only do you learn from your own mistakes, you also learn from everyone else’s and see models of Band 7 on a weekly basis from high-level learners.

Is Speaking practice included?

We have one group Speaking class each week.

If you cannot attend the online Speaking class, you still have plenty of opportunity to practise your Speaking:

  • Weekly feedback on a 2-minute Long Turn Video that you record and send me.
  • a 28-Day Speaking and PronunciationCourse to guide you through all parts of the test and to help you practice by yourself.
  • 2 x 30-day challenges and workbooks for Part 1 and Part 2, with model answers and an example video for each question.
What happens after 3 months?

Lots of my Members want to keep benefiting from the course.

If you wish to continue after your 3 months is completed, you can renew your subscription with a 50% discount, or choose a monthly rate.

Can I pause my access during the 3 months?

Yes you can, though it is not something I would recommend.

As soon as you put the course on hold, you put your learning on hold, and you will start to go backwards, losing any progress you have made.

IELTS requires constant practice and constant feedback to see progress.

The Academy is designed to be easily manageable (10 minutes a day) if you make it a priority.

What if I can't attend live sessions?
The course is fully designed to be accessible by anyone in any time zone, whatever your job or family circumstances.
All the lessons have pre-recorded videos designed to save you time and fit into your timetable, while all the activities are self-access too.
The Friday Writing Webinar is simply me giving feedback on your writing that I have already marked – so you get the feedback via the google doc notes and corrections on your individual writing, PLUS the timestamped recording so you can skip ahead to your feedback.  You don’t need to attend live – you can ask me questions in any of our chat groups or by email.
You are encouraged to form study buddies with members in your timezone and arrange speaking practice together.
You can also record videos and get personal feedback from me once a week.
The live sessions are just one feature of the Academy and all of my members make progress by accessing the different features when it suits them best.

All self-access courses for 1 year

 Still not sure?

I know it’s a big decision. If you have any doubts about joining, please contact me. Here are some things my students often say before they join.

Q

I don’t have time to study.

R

The course is structured so you just do a little every day and gradually cover all the materials in an organised way.

Q

I hate studying IELTS materials. They’re so boring.

R

You’ll find my materials and methods refreshingly engaging and user-friendly.

I have broken down IELTS into easy, manageable chunks with short videos, clear learning aims and student-centred activities.

Q

I need 1:1 tuition.

R

1:1 tuition is a lot more expensive. In the Academy, you get the best of both worlds – all the lessons designed by an IELTS tutor and ex-examiner, PLUS help and support when you need it.

You’ll also develop independent learning skills and learn how to manage your progress without a private tutor.

Q

I don’t like studying by myself.

R

The Academy is a very small community of about 30 students at any one time. Everyone works together and supports each other in the private community group.

Q

I’ve tried other courses and none of them worked.

R

I understand, and it’s difficult to guarantee success. But my students tell me that they’ve tried other courses and mine was the only one that worked.

Because of my experience with IELTS, I will help you find out where you’re going wrong more quickly so that you can finally address these issues and fix them.

Q

I can’t afford the course.

R

I know it seems like a lot in one go, but it’s about the same price as an IELTS test, and one week in a language school.

I believe you will SAVE money because you won’t have to pay to re-take the test.

The Academy is not just a course – it includes double-marking by two expert IELTS examiners, high-quality tech and video platforms to make it easier to use,  plus personalised access to me throughout the whole period.

The cost is the equivalent of about 4 x 1:1 classes with a highly qualified teacher. In the Academy you will get this level of attention on a weekly basis.
