PRIVATE FACEBOOK GROUP
This is a small, dedicated community of like-minded students, where we post every day and share resources.
It’s also a place where you can ask questions 24/7 and get help when you need it.
- understand common mistakes and how to fix them
- see how grammar is used in all parts of the test
- learn how to use complex grammar more accurately
Grammar lessons are fully integrated into hte main modules so that you learn the grammar you need as you move through the course.
The ‘Grammar Snack’ module is full of extra, short lessons based on single grammar points that need extra practice for the test.
Any time you have a question about grammar that you need help with, I make an extra video with IELTS-related practice examples.
Need to practice your Speaking more often?
Meet Will! Like me, he’s a teacher with over 30 years of experience and you can choose 4 lessons a week (via Zoom).
Once a week you can send me a 2-minute ‘long-turn’ task to develop your confidence and familiarity with the Part 2 questions and help you develop your structure in this crucial part of the test.
You will get my feedback by email. This has helped my students increase their Band Score by, for example,
- adapting their answer to include more complex grammar such as past tenses
- listening to their own intonation and making it more natural
- reducing hesitation and ‘umming’!
- identifying features of pronunciation that need work
- getting regular Speaking practice.
You also learn from watching other members’ videos.
Exclusive to the Members Academy, your Personal Progress Tracker is an online document (you can print it off too) similar to the 28-Day Planner which has been used by thousands of students to make fast progress in IELTS.
After every lesson and test, you write it in the tracker so that you can see your progress. You can also share a link to the tracker with me so I can check how you’re doing.
The tracker is a place to write notes and scores, and to remind you to review and test your knowledge. You can also keep a record of all your writing submissions and corrections in the tracker so that you learn from your mistakes.
We started grammar bootcamps in 2021.
What’s different about them?
They give you one grammar point to master each day, with a short video or live lesson, followed by a variety of IELTS-related practice exercises (so that you don’t waste time practising language that you’ll never use).
They also include weekend booster classes (you submit your examples, and I give LIVE feedback, tips and advice based on YOUR examples).
- The A-Z of Conditionals
- The A-Z of Perfect tenses
- The A-Z of Writing Task 2
The Academy provides you with 6 FULL Mock Tests (6 x Reading, 6 x Listening).
- get real timed test practice
- discover where you’re losing points
- identify areas you need to work on
- see where you’re making progress
The tests can be accessed any time, so you can do them at your own pace (once a week, fortnight or month) depending on when your test is.
You can do the test on your computer and check the answers by yourself.
Personal Speaking Feedback
Once a week, you will
- record a 2-minute long-turn audio.
I will analyse the audio and give you specific feedback on specific aspects of your Speaking (pronunciation, intonation, task approach, common errors)
You will also get daily practice and informal feedback in the Zoom Speaking Classes.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Academy right for me?
The Academy is right for you if you enjoy learning English and are ready to work hard.
If you have never taken the test before, the course is the best thing you can do to get 100% ready to take it. If you have taken the test before, I am confident you will learn how to improve your score.
There is only one level of IELTS and everyone has to do the same exam.
Please see the reviews on Google My Business and Facebook to see how much my students love the programme.
How long will it take me to get through the materials?
There are about 180 lessons, plus a variety of Practice Tests for each part of the Course (plus full Practice Tests).
I add new materials to the Academy every week and I also add ‘Quick Win’ videos in response to special requests from Academy Members.
Just do one thing a day. This will be enough practice to prepare you for the exam.
You can watch the videos as many times as you like, and do the exercises/worksheets over and over again until you feel confident that you’re getting the language, grammar and vocabulary right.
Will I be able to understand everything?
YES. I am used to working with students from all over the world, and the language that I use is clear and simple.
If you have watched my videos on YouTube, or listened to my podcasts, you will know what I sound like! I also use Powerpoints in every video so that you can see and read exactly what I am talking about.
The worksheets are designed to mirror what we do in the videos, so there is nothing new or confusing when you do the practice exercises.
All of the worksheets also have detailed answers included and you can print them off and keep them as a reference.
Do I need to have internet access?
The course is fully online so can access it on your computer, phone or tablet.
You can download and print off all of the worksheets, mindmaps, feedback PDFs, model answers and ebooks to keep forever.
You will need internet access to watch the videos, as they are not downloadable at the moment.
Can I download the videos?
At the moment, no, but you can download and keep all the worksheets and Writing Models.
You will have access to the videos as long as you are a Member in the Academy.
How long will I have access to the content?
In the full Members Academy, you will be able to access the videos, Facebook group and live lessons for as long as your membership is active.
Download and keep the PDF materials forever.
Please note that the videos are not downloadable, but the content of the videos is in the PDFs.
What if I'm not very technical?
I have made everything as easy as possible. You can access all the videos and materials on a computer, tablet or phone, just by putting in your email address and password.
Do you offer a Money Back Guarantee?
YES. You can try out the Academy for 48 hours and if you decide it is not right for you, I will give you a FULL refund.
Please note that you can get the FULL library of e-books and resources after you have decided to commit to the course.
Please also note that it can take up to 15 days for the refund to appear in your bank account. But don’t panic – you will receive a full refund.
What if I don't have a credit card?
I recommend that you sign up to PayPal, which is a safe way of paying online.
Why is your Academy different?
I’ve put my 30 years of experience teaching, examining and working with IELTS students into the Academy that I truly believe will help you improve your score if you make full use of all the materials and the feedback sessions.
I’ve also chosen the best materials and done everything I can to make the lessons clear, logical and engaging.
Most importantly, I am very active in the Academy. I know all my members on an individual basis. You will not be left alone to struggle with the materials. I am always here to help.
Will you mark and check my work in the Academy?
The Academy is a self-study course, so all the materials have answers and you can check everything by yourself.
However, you can ask questions in the Facebook group, Whatsapp group and live lessons, and I give you Writing Feedback every week.
Is Writing Feedback included?
We do a weekly live lesson during which I give people feedback on their writing.
You can submit a piece of writing each week for me to correct.
Is Speaking practice included?
YES! The Speaking Lessons are taught by Will McCulloch from EnglishTrainers.org.
He is a UK teacher living in Germany, and as a full member you will get 4 Speaking lessons included as a bonus.
Please note that this is an extra FREE bonus and if you are unable to attend the classes at the specified times, I do not provide extra Speaking classes.
If you cannot attend the online Speaking classes, you still have plenty of opportunity to practise your Speaking:
- Weekly feedback on a 2-minute Long Turn Video that you record and send me.
- a 7-Day Speaking Course to guide you through all parts of the test and to help you practice by yourself.
- A 10-Day Pronunciation Course to help you sound more fluent and natural in a short time
- 2 x 30-day challenges and workbooks for Part 1 and Part 2, with model answers and an example video for each question.
What happens after 3 months?
Lots of my Members want to keep benefiting from the course (some have been with me for more than 2 years!).
If you wish to continue after your 3 months is completed, you can renew your subscription or choose a monthly rate.
Can I pause my access during the 3 months?
My website does not allow me to put courses on hold (it is possible for monthly subscriptions only).
Honestly, it is not something I would recommend. As soon as you put the course on hold, you put your learning on hold, and you will start to go backwards, losing any progress you have made.
IELTS requires constant practice and constant feedback to see progress.
If you have ever stopped going to the gym, you will now that your fitness starts to decrease the next day unless you constantly maintain it.
And if you’ve ever seen the film ‘Supersize Me’, you will know that it takes 30 days to put tons of weight on, and 14 months to lost it again.
Pausing your course is a huge step backwards. The Academy is designed to be easily manageable (10 minutes a day) if you make it a priority.
